First Friday at the Flat Iron Arts Building – New November Openings!

Come down for your last chance to see the Sixth Annual “Now You See it and Now You Don’t” art exhibit! It closes on November 6th, 2015, 6pm to 10pm. The show features more than 30 Chicago artists whose murals celebrate the vibrant art scene of the Wicker Park-Bucktown neighborhood. On November 6th, the murals begin to disappear, as the artists, with buckets of white paint and brushes, paint over their work for the year.

Our newest resident, photographer Vincent Romano will be opening his new studio in 340. “Our individual experiences, adventures, scenarios we’ve witnessed in our past, can give us a unique vision of the scene before us. This helps me capture similarities and differences among the vast amount of varying experiences I have. I also find taking things to their limits and see what works and more importantly what doesn’t, is something that has help guide me.”

“Friday Night Wall” presents Madeline Vaccaro’s “Objects”. Vaccaro is currently pursuing her BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Interests in the ludic, (the unabridged mind of) adolescence, domestic life, functionality, multiples/modularity, and architecture are some of the issues that contribute to the bulk of Madeline’s work. This course of action has led her to an interdisciplinary practice yielding results from the fields of sculpture, object and furniture design, fiber studies, printmaking, ceramics and is continually expanding.

The Flat Iron Artists’ Association is a private, not-for-profit company dedicated to the promotion of the arts in the Wicker Park / Bucktown area. The Flat Iron Artists Association is the sponsor of First Friday art shows in Wicker Park Bucktown. With the support of the WPB SSA#33 and sponsors, the Flat Iron Artists Association and the local artists have been a driving force to revitalize the tradition of art in Wicker Park Bucktown.
